CareGo EMR is distinguished for its SMS Nudge Technology on Liveable Cities Philippines Webinar for Boosting Immunization through Technology and Innovation.
Vaccination is one of the most cost-effective ways of preventing disease. According to the WHO, it currently averts 2 to 3 million deaths a year, and could potentially save 1.5 million more if global coverage of vaccinations improved. However, the challenge that remains is the reluctance or refusal of people to be vaccinated despite the availability of vaccines. To help address this, it was found that successful vaccination campaigns require proactive communication strategies toward target population to address vaccine hesitancy (ADB, 2021).
In pursuit of raising awareness among the Filipino citizens about how greatly helpful vaccines are on preventing diseases like polio, measles, and flu, CareGo EMR has been invited to share its technology and how effective of an intervention an SMS nudging system is to address the dwindling rates of vaccination in the country.
Liveable Cities Philippines, with its partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines, Sanofi, and Globe Telecom, has organized a webinar featuring speakers from the Department of Health, University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, and CareGo EMR to share evidence-based insights on the national vaccination status and to encourage local government units in adopting innovation to improve community health in their cities.
Dr. Alfonso Miguel Ragala talked about vaccination and its impact on our communities as well as the efforts of the DOH Health Promotions Bureau in achieving this through mobile nudges. Moreover, Dr. Anna Ong-Lim discussed the importance of achieving the routine childhood immunization objectives. Dr. Rontgene Solante then supported the discussion with the significance of immunization for adults, who are often overlooked as invulnerable members of the population. Lastly, Mr. Ernest Troyss Pilapil of CareGo EMR talked about how tech innovation (SMS nudge system) has helped increase vaccination participation rates in their partner municipality up to 7% and its potential in saving lives of millions of children. The session was wrapped up by a discussion among the speakers as facilitated by Mr. Guillermo Bill Luz.
In line with the webinar, the Liveable Cities Labs is accepting sign-ups from Local Government Units to test and adopt the technology platform to boost the immunization rates in their cities. You may reach out to [email protected] if your LGU is interested to test the solution.
